מהות הספרייה – הנגשת מידע וידע

הנגשה – להציע ולאפשר לכל אחד להשתמש במקורות המידע ושרותי הספרייה עפ"י צרכיו ויכולותיו

אוריינות – הדרכה: הנחיות לשם הבנה והערכת מידע ושימוש במקורות וטכנולוגיות

תמיכה – עזרה ועידוד בהתאם לצורך במידע, קידום מקצועי או קידום אקדמי

שרותיות – רצון נכונות ומוכנות לספק, לעזור ולתמוך, סובלנות וסבלנות להקשיב

גמישות – מחשבתית וביצועית, התאמת המענה לצרכים ולשינויים ארגוניים. צרכים ובקשות מאתגרים את שרותי וכישורי המידענים.

התחדשות – איתור, הכנסה, למידה והדרכה של טכנולוגיות, מקורות וכלים חדשים

מטרה נוספת – להוות מרכז משאבי ידע ומידע ל: טיפול, התעדכנות, למידה, מחקר, קידום אקדמי

לקוחות – סגל המרכז הרפואי: כל משתמש ומבקש שרותי מידע

האמצעים והשירותים

אתר – קישור למקורות וכלי עזר

רכש  – מקורות עבור כל הסגל. הספרייה בודקת אפשרויות רכש בהתאם לבירור צרכים ולתקציב.

הדרכה – טלפונית / כתובה / אישית/ קבוצתית בשימוש במקורות וכלים העומדים לרשות הסגל

סקירות ספרות – מורכב, שיטתי, התרעת מידע

הספקת PDF גם מספריות אחרות ומקורות שלא נרכשים

דחיפת מידע – למנהלים, בעלי תפקיד יחודי, ולפי נושאי התמחות ועניין

קידום מקצועי ואקדמי – הנחיות, מקורות מידע, ניווט בין יחידות השרות והשירותים הקיימים בשיבא

קידום דרגה אוניברסיטאית – עזרה בהכנת בקשות

מקום ללימוד ללא הסחות-דעת – תלוי שטח

היסטוריה

הספרייה הרפואית החלה לפעול בשנת 1953 בסמוך להקמתו של בית-החולים תל השומר. (הביתן היה בדרך לחדר האוכל וזמין). בשנת 1981 הספרייה עברה לבניין ייעודי ונקראה הספרייה הרפואית ע"ש גב' מרים גוטוירט. במשך שנות פעילותה צברה הספרייה אוסף עשיר של ספרים וכתבי-עת רפואיים מודפסים, חלקם אף מסוף המאה ה-19.

מאז 2010 הספרייה פתוחה ללומדים 24/7.

בסוף 2018 הספריה הועברה לביתן 20 א' עם אוסף ספרים מודפסים מ-1995: Textbooks במספר מהדורות, וספרים בתחומי רפואה, בריאות, היסטוריה של הרפואה בישראל ומחקר. רק חלק מהספרים קיימים גם בפורמט אלקטרוני.

מתחילת שנת 2000 לספריה אתר אינטרנט פעיל עם רשימת כתבי-עת וספרים דיגטליים. בכל שנה מהשנים האחרונות מתווספים כלים להקלת נגישות, איסוף וטיפול במידע וידע.

Flexibility - adapting the response to needs and organizational changes. Needs and requests challenge the services and skills of informationists.

Renewal - locating, introducing, learning and training new technologies, resources and tools

Goal - to be a center of knowledge and information resources

Clients - Staff of the Medical Center: Every user and applicant for information services

Procurement - examination of procurement options according to needs and budget for all faculty.

Training – by telephone / writting / individual / group using the resources and tools available to the faculty

Literature reviews - complex, systematic, information alert

PDF delivery also from other libraries and sources not purchased

Information push - for managers, with a unique role, and according to topics of expertise and interest

Professional and academic promotion - guidelines, sources of information, navigation between existing service units and services in Sheba

Promotion of university degree - assistance for preparing applications

Place for studing without distractions - depends on the area

History

The medical library began operating in 1953 after the establishment of Tel Hashomer Hospital. (The pavilion was on the way to the dining room). In 1981 the library moved to a dedicated building and since then was named after Ms. Miriam Gutwirt. During its years of operation, the library has accumulated a rich collection of printed medical books and journals, some even from the late 19th century.

Since 2010 the library is open for learning 24/7.

At the end of 2018, the library was moved to Pavilion 20A with a collection of printed books from 1995: several editions of textbooks and books in the fields of medicine, health, Israel Medical History and research. Only some of the books are also available in electronic format.

Since the beginning of 2000, the library has had an active website with lists of digital journals and books. Every year from the last few years, tools are added to facilitate accessibility, collection and handling of information and knowledge.
